Frequently asked questions

Where is the meeting point?

Our base is at Calle Colonia Naranjeña, Guatuso, Alajuela, about ten minutes from the Tenorio Volcano National Park entrance. Search for “Rio Celeste Georgeous” on Waze or Uber. There is free parking, and restrooms and changing rooms on site.

What should I bring?

Swimwear, a towel, a change of clothes and water shoes or sandals for the water tours. We also recommend sunscreen and insect repellent. Life jackets, helmets and all the technical gear are provided.

What happens if it rains?

The tour runs. This is a rainforest and rain is part of the experience — we only stop if conditions are genuinely unsafe, such as flooding or lightning. In that case we reschedule you at no cost.

Is the river always blue?

No. The turquoise colour depends on sunlight and on how much sediment the rain carries down. After heavy rain the river can turn brown for a few hours and then clears again. The tour goes ahead either way, and this is not grounds for a refund.

Can children join?

Yes. Children from 3 to 11 pay a reduced rate and must be accompanied by an adult. Tubing is not allowed under 3 years old for safety reasons. Infants up to 2 years old are free but must be included in the booking.

Do I need to know how to swim?

For tubing you should be comfortable in the water and able to follow basic instructions. Life jackets are mandatory and our guides are certified in water rescue. If you are not a confident swimmer, tell us in advance and we will assign a guide to stay with you.

Do you take photos of the tour?

Yes. Our guides film your ride with a GoPro and share the photos and videos with you afterwards, at no extra cost. If you prefer not to be filmed, just tell your guide at the start.

How do park tickets work?

Tenorio Volcano National Park tickets are issued per person and require the full name and passport number of every traveller. We buy them for you and send the entry code by email. Send us those details as soon as you book.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancel more than 24 hours before your tour and we refund 70 % of what you paid; the remaining 30 % covers payment processing and administrative costs. Inside 24 hours, or if you do not show up, there is no refund. Full details on our Payments and Refunds page.

How do I pay, and is it safe?

You pay on the website with PayPal, using your PayPal balance or any credit or debit card. Payment is processed by PayPal, so we never see or store your card details. Bank transfer and cash are available only by prior arrangement.

Do your guides speak English?

Yes. All our guides are certified and bilingual in English and Spanish.
